Life For Kids After Detroit Bankruptcy Sucks

The Detroit Free Press just did a piece on life in dealing with its elderly population who are pensioners.

"Detroit Bankruptcy Sucks!"
Now, what about the children?

Let's see if there will be balanced reporting in reporting on the increase in child poverty after the bankruptcy but I doubt it.

So, here it goes.

Detroit has the highest concentrated rates of autism in the world, along with a wide range of cognitive and psychological developmental disabilities.

Detroit Public Schools inclusive of the Educational Achievement Authority are horrible when dealing with its special needs population which mostly lives in poverty as the parents have dedicated themselves to caring for these children for a severe lack of public assistance.

Then you have the blight and lack of quality and affordable housing.  Even though there are opportunities to become homeowners through the Detroit Land Bank Authority, a family with children could never meet the program guidelines and instead chooses to move out the city.

As long as Detroit, and the State of Michigan for that matter, refuses to invest in children as its most precious treasure, the tax base will continue to dwindle, and pensioners will leave no legacy when Detroit kids grow up.
